Transforming Medical Education
vDOC was built for medical students. It's the tool we have always wanted.
Who we are is simple, we are a group of people who love learning new things. Founder Bryce Arnold DO, is a practicing internal medicine attending that interacts with Medical Students daily.
What's next for vDOC is going to be up to its Users. There are 100's and 100's of cases to add, social complexities, additional interactions that can be added.
We can't wait to announce new upcoming features, and get feedback on vDOC's core!
Built for everyone
Dr. Bryce Arnold DO welcomes you to vDOC!
vDOC was built to give everyone a private place to freely Practice Medicine in preparation for the complex performance of modern patient care.
This is just the beginning for vDOC, we are so excited to take feedback and continue to innovate, so this tool can help us all on our never ending efforts to give the best patient care possible.
FAQs
At Launch, vDOC will include 20 patient encounters that provide hours and hours of practice. New cases will be added frequently, there will always be new cases to help you prepare for real world patient care.
Treatment recommendations are based on evidence-based medicine and industry-accepted best practices. vDOC was built and is maintained by a practicing physician that regularly reviews and updates the content to ensure it aligns with current medical guidelines. As vDOC grows, so will this team.
While VR technology is exciting, we've chosen not to incorporate it into vDOC for several reasons:
Cost Barrier: VR equipment can be expensive, which would limit accessibility for many students.
Limited Added Value: Our proprietary physical exam provide approximately 90% of the educational value of a hands-on exam without the need for VR.
Focus on Clinical Reasoning: vDOC prioritizes developing clinical reasoning skills, and verbalization skills with a patient, which don't necessarily benefit from VR integration.
Accessibility: Our current platform allows users to access simulations from any compatible device without additional hardware. We believe that putting a high acquisition cost on users for the remaining 5% of potential value doesn't align with our goal of providing accessible, high-quality medical education. However, we continuously monitor technological advancements and may integrate VR in the future if it can provide significant added value without compromising accessibility.
vDOC is designed primarily for medical students and residents. However, it can be valuable for a range of learners, from early medical students to practicing physicians looking to refine their skills.
No, account sharing is strictly prohibited. Each user must have their own account. We monitor IP addresses and device usage patterns to ensure compliance. AI usage costs are still in a place that if sharing accounts is abused it would be highly impactful to vDOC's ability to self fund.
We do want everyone to use vDOC, that is why we have our referral program. If you need a way to help pay for vDOC because money is tight, getting 4–8 friends will quickly get your yearly subscription paid for.
Our yearly subscription is less than the cost of almost all text books.
No, all patient data in vDOC simulations is fictitious and created for educational purposes only. However, our cases are designed to closely mimic real-world scenarios.
There is a good chance you will have the opportunity to treat patients that resemble some of our favorite superhero's this year.
Each patient has a highly detailed and robust data set that is coupled with the vDOC Framework, so the patient changed based on the medical students' treatment. You will find in vDOC that emotions, physical characteristics, body movement, the way they talk, their facial expressions all change dynamically based on treatment decisions, or even the lack of treatment.
We take data security seriously. All data is stored on secure servers, and we implement robust security measures to protect your personal information and usage data. For more details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Currently, vDOC is optimized for desktop use. However, we are developing mobile functionality is on our Development roadmap if users feel it's needed.
No, with your subscription, you have unlimited access to all available cases. We encourage frequent practice to maximize your learning.
Yes, vDOC is currently optimized for desktop use (Windows and Mac). You must use an up-to-date Google Chrome browser for the best experience. iPad and touch screen functionality are in vDOC's development roadmap
We're committed to continuously expanding our library of cases and features. The vDOC framework allows our teams to quickly add cases based on need and feedback. Once in production, new cases and features associated with new cases will frequently show up in vDOC. At launched will have 20 Cases, our goal is to have over 100 cases added to vDOC Overte next 12 months. As well, we will be adding the option to add common co-morbidities when selecting a patient encounter, to further challenge students soon after launch. Users will be notified via email about significant additions.
vDOC offers a wide range of medical simulations covering various specialties and scenarios commonly encountered in the United States healthcare system. Our cases are designed to challenge and improve clinical reasoning, diagnosis, patient interactions, and treatment planning skills. Patients in vDOC react to the medical students care in real time. vDOC brings together all hospitals systems needed to perform care just like in real life, Conversational AI allows the students to practice verbalizing care and treatments, and lastly the real-time feedback as the case progresses is already proving to drastically improve information retention.
Early testing has also had a major impact on confidence levels for students who are preparing to perform patient encounters for the first time. Having a place practice a patient encounter without the pressure of your peers, or an attending, is quickly become a popular point of feedback from students.
We offer a full refund, minus processing fees, if you cancel within 72 hours of subscribing or before completing three cases, whichever occurs first. After this period, subscriptions are non-refundable for any unused portion.
After each case, you will be shown a comprehensive evaluation of your performance. This includes an assessment of your history-taking, physical examination, lab orders, and treatment decisions that apply to that specific patient encounter. The evaluation compares your choices to best practices and provides detailed feedback. We also evaluate your dialogue with your patient, did you take a proper H&P etc.... Dialogue analysis and feedback is something we are putting extensive effort into because of the value that it brings. This data is also sent to our secure servers so it can be reviewed later. We are working on lots of tools to provide insights and additional ways to analyze and learn from each case.
While vDOC is a powerful learning tool, it is not currently accredited for official continuing medical education (CME)credits. Always check with your institution or licensing board for approved CME sources. This is something we will be working on in Q4 of 2024.
